Transcription of the notes gathered by Morelli for the proposed second edition of the work by Michiel (1486-1552) describing paintings seen in public and private collections in North Italy, particularly Padua, Cremona, Milon, Pavia, Bergamo, Crema and Venice. The published work is an important source of information on Venetian and Paduan art of the first half of the 16th century. Morelli adds extensive commentary and annotations to the 1800 edition, and establishes the provenance of works of art seen by Michiel.
